Pediatric Lipid and Weight Management Center
The only center of its kind in the region, the program is focused on children with hyperlipidemia or complicated and severe obesity. Children with obesity must have a BMI greater than the 95th and obesity-related co-morbidities, or diagnosis of/concern for familial hyperlipidemia (FH).
Our primary goals are to achieve a higher sense of self-esteem and to create a long-term change in eating habits and improved fitness level. We also focus on secondary health issues such as weight reduction and diabetes.
Our multi-disciplinary team is made up of physicians and nurse practitioners specifically trained in obesity management, nutritionists and youth fitness trainers. In addition, the Pediatric Lipid and Weight Management Center accesses pediatric sub-specialists as needed in Endocrinology, Cardiology, Pulmunology, Nephrology, and Psychiatry to help children and their families manage the complexities of lipid and obesity problems and improve quality of life.
