NH Police and Fire Set Goal to Reach $1Million Mark for CHaD

On Saturday, March 16th local hero all-stars will take to the ice at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester for the 6th annual CHaD Battle of the Badges All-Star Hockey Championship. New this year, Badges Teams will include the combined talents of both New Hampshire Police and Fire players from alike communities to compete in this fierce game of good vs. good. The Teams will be split into East and West and includes an all-star roster mix of veteran as well as new to the game players. This year the players are joining forces to reach the $1Million mark in support of the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock.

Last year's event attracted over 5,500 fans and raised over $188K. Since 2008, Battle of the Badges total donations have reached $792K. This year through sponsorships, donations and team fundraising, the event has a set goal of $208K to reach the $1Million mark. A countdown to a million has been posted on the event’s website. Team East will be led by Lieutenant Micky Drouin of Dover Fire & Rescue and Team West by Lieutenant Pete Favreau of the Manchester Police Department. Both captains have played a lead role in the game since its inception in 2008.

"The support we have received from our local heroes, sponsors and communities has been nothing short of amazing and we look forward to seeing existing and new fans in the stands as we cheer for all those who have made a great commitment to our CHaD kids," said CHaD Community Relations Director, Sharon Brown.

Supporters of every age group can partake in this spectacular event while raising money for a great cause. This year fans are encouraged to join in the fun and the cause. Fans may make a donation to a player's fundraising, a favorite team's fundraising, and can now also create their own "team" in support of CHaD and compete for incentives and awards.
