Youth Engagement Partner Positive Tracks to Support '17 CHaD HERO
Positive Tracks a sports-based youth development organization based in Hanover, NH, will again partner with the CHaD HERO to help youth participants sweat for good for the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock. Positive Tracks empowers youth to help causes they care about by providing FREE hands on support, advocacy tips, and team building tools so youth can learn the power of making a difference using their own minds and muscle. In addition to helping kids learn how to get active and give back, Positive Tracks matches dollars raised by CHaD youth participants ages 23 and under.
Positive Tracks was conceived in 2009 at the CHaD HERO through a community rally for Cam Marshall, a 9-year-old CHaD patient fighting leukemia. The inaugural Cam’s Course event showcased how one act can lead to large-scale community mobilization – especially amongst youth. Since its creation, Positive Tracks has been a significant partner of the HERO, working to engage youth in becoming change-makers in their own communities.
Last year, Renee Brandon, an 18-year-old CHaD patient, organized and ran her own 5K as part of a virtual fundraiser for the HERO saying, “It was an honor and privilege to be able to work with CHaD, since it is dear to my heart. I was ecstatic that Positive Tracks would be helping me, in addition to matching my funds because that meant that many more kids would be helped with what I raised."
The HERO takes place on October 22 in Hanover, NH on the Dartmouth College Green. Participants can choose to engage in a half marathon, 5K run or walk, hike, biking event, or Cam’s Course 1-mile family fun run. The event also features a family-friendly festival with a KidZone, food and entertainment.
Participants can sign up for the CHaD HERO by visiting www.chadhero.org beginning on May 2nd. For details on youth related support of CHaD, please contact CHaD’s Positive Tracks Coordinator, Hilary Hubbard at Hilary.A.Hubbard@Hitchcock.org
