The Clinic Visit
Scheduling an appointment
Before we can schedule your appointment with the clinic, we will contact you to obtain your child's medical information. After we review these and other medical and dental records in detail, we will schedule the appointment.
Who will I see?
When the appointment is scheduled, the Clinic Coordinator will discuss with you which providers your child might see, based on your child’s age and condition.
Then, on the day of the Clinic, the team gathers to discuss each case. They will discuss which providers they think your child should see. You will be informed of this discussion at the visit, and you may decide whether to accept these recommendations.
What will take place at the clinic?
On the day of the clinic, your child will be evaluated by specialists in the fields relevant to your child's needs. Surgical procedures do not take place on clinic days, but your child may have x-rays taken, undergo hearing tests, or have speech evaluations that require naso-endoscopic exams of the palate and pharynx.
Most of the time you will see each provider individually, but sometimes you’ll see more than one at once. There will be plenty of time to ask questions.
You will receive a listing of all the providers, contact numbers and resource material specific to your child’s condition.
How long will the visit take?
The clinic visit will usually takes two to three hours to complete. Bringing snacks and activities for your child will help pass the time in between visits with providers.
After the visit, you will be mailed a copy of the team note, which includes recommendations for future treatment and when it is advised that you return to the Clinic.
Your child’s primary care provider, or the referring provider, will also receive a copy of this report. Please also feel free to share it with your child’s other care givers, such as speech therapist, dentist, orthodontist, etc.
If surgery is advised, you will be contacted for scheduling. Please call the Clinic Coordinator with any questions or concerns at (603) 650-4800.
