Vermont Department of Children and Families was created in 2004 by a merger of the Office of Child Support (OCS), the Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO), the Department of Prevention, Assistance, Transition, and Health Access (PATH), and the Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services (SRS).

  • Child Development Division: (formerly Child Care Services of SRS) Promotes and supports safe, accessible, quality child care for Vermont families
  • Office of Child Support: Helps Vermonters establish and enforce child support to Vermont children
  • Family Services: (formerly known as SRS) Administers Juvenile Justice, Child Welfare Services, a Resources Unit (Foster Care, Residential Services, Transitional Services, Adoption, and Contracted Services), and the Child Safety Unit (ESP, SIU)
  • Economic Services Division: (formerly known as PATH) Administers food stamps, Medicaid, cash assistance, and emergency assistance programs
  • Office of Economic Opportunity: Administers weatherization services, support for community-based anti-poverty efforts, and food and nutrition services, including nutrition education, commodity food distribution, and farmer's market food coupon distribution
