The CHaD Pediatric Residency program meets all the requirements of the Residency Review Committee (RRC) and is fully accredited by the ACGME.
Overview and block schedule
The goal of our program is to foster the personal and professional growth of our residents and to prepare exemplary pediatricians who are humanistic, compassionate, and committed to children's health. The curriculum is divided into two components:
- Core curriculum (required)
- Individualized curriculum
- X + Y Schedule Coming July 2022!
We will be transitioning to an “X+Y” schedule at the start of the 2022-2023 academic year in a “3+1” model. Instead of typical 4-week rotations with 1 half-day of continuity clinic time interspersed each week, the core inpatient rotations (inpatient ward, PICU, NICU, electives) occur in 3-week blocks followed by 1 ambulatory week. During this ambulatory week, residents have a mixture of continuity clinic, acute clinic, and other longitudinal curricula.
We offer an individualized curriculum for every resident to maximize their educational opportunities. Opportunities for on-the-fly feedback are created by the close relationships between our faculty and residents. In addition to our individualized curriculum, evaluation, and feedback, we incorporate simulation training into our residency curriculum.
Many of our residents are involved in community service or advocacy projects, often providing a direct service to the community in partnership with local organizations.
Global health opportunities
The Global Health Program (GCHP) at CHaD works to creative sustainable partnerships that prioritize worldwide improvement of children's health. GCHP offers our residents the opportunity to participate in global health initiatives as well as in the vibrant educational activities at Dartmouth College.
