The pediatric and adolescent medicine clinic serves as the major pediatric primary care provider for the children in the Upper Valley of New Hampshire and Vermont. The clinic also serves as a referral center for health care providers across the two states.
The ambulatory clinic of CHaD is located on the top floor of the Faulkner Outpatient Building. The clinic includes examination rooms and outpatient facilities for primary care and all pediatric medical and surgical specialties. Laboratory and radiology services are available in the outpatient building.
Outpatient care is provided by teams of pediatric residents, faculty and pediatric nurse practitioners who work together to provide a medical home for all children from birth through young adulthood supporting compassionate, family centered, high value care. The clinic is supported by a full team of nurses, care managers, lactation support and embedded mental health clinicians.
During continuity clinic and ambulatory (acute care) rotations, residents gain experience in:
- Well child care
- Chronic disease management
- Diagnosis and management of acute illness and injury
- Mental health concerns.
With nearly all pediatric subspecialty clinics on the same floor as primary care, consultation and co-management with subspecialists is easily available. The Resident on Call Rotation (ROC) is a PL-3 rotation that develops leadership skills including practice management, teaching opportunities, and consultation services.
