The Kohl's Safe and Active Community Program is a new initiative of the Injury Prevention Center at Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock (CHaD) made possible by a grant from Kohl’s. This exciting collaboration provides vital program support for local initiatives to promote safe and healthy activity for children and their families throughout New Hampshire.
CHaD has had an existing partnership with Kohl's as part of their Kohl's Cares program since 2005. In the past, CHaD has benefited from the sales of cause marketing merchandise, including seasonal stuffed animals and books, in the West Lebanon, NH, store.
Previous Kohl's grants have been used to fund a variety of projects and programs such as The Period of PURPLE Crying® Teen Program, an awareness campaign geared at informing teens about infant crying. Additionally, information about infant safe sleep was utilized to raise awareness with high-risk families statewide via educational resources and protective equipment distribution such as portable cribs, stair gates, and window guards.
