At Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, falls are one of the leading causes of trauma admissions to CHaD. In children age 14 and under, falls are the leading cause of admissions. Our Trauma Program data shows a striking similarity to national data fall nationally also being the greatest cause of unintentional injury in children under 14. Nationally, each year, approximately 100 children die and more than 2.3 million injuries occur from falls.
