Mentorship and Advising
Advisors are assigned by the program leadership team at the start of the intern year. Advisors are part of a broader mentorship team and may or may not be in the resident's future field of pediatrics.
The goal of advisors is to facilitate their advisees' transition to, and through, residency. This relationship is intended to continue for the full three years of training.
The job of an advisor is to help the resident become the pediatrician they want to be.
Residents and their advisors will meet quarterly at a minimum. Advisors are part of the Clinical Competency Committee for their resident advisees. At the end of three years together, advisors present their advisees with their diplomas at graduations as well as a good-natured "roast"!
