Pediatric Radiology Treatments and Services

Pediatric Radiology offers a full range of treatments and services, including:

  • Barium enema: An X-ray test that examines the lower part of the digestive system, called the large bowel or colon
  • Computed tomography (CT): A test where a series of many X-rays taken from different angles are combined to produce a cross-section view of a particular area of the body
  • Fluoroscopic examination: An X-ray test that lets the radiologist see moving images of organs and processes in the body. For example, this test lets the radiologist watch how the heart is pumping or how a person is swallowing.
  • Interventional radiology: The process of using X-rays, CTs, ultrasounds, and other radiology tests to help perform minimally invasive procedures.
  • Intravenous urogram (IVU): An X-ray test that shows us how your child's kidneys are working.
  • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI): A test that uses strong magnets to create three-dimensional images of organs in the body.
  • Nuclear medicine: An imaging test that uses a small amount of radioactive material to diagnose or treat a disease
  • Radiological procedure
  • Routine X-ray study: An imaging test that uses electromagnetic radiation to take pictures inside the body
  • Ultrasound: A test that uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of organs in the body
  • Upper gastrointestinal (GI) series: An X-ray test that takes pictures of the digestive system.
