Boyle Community Pediatrics
From writing letters to the editors of various publications to testifying before congress, many pediatricians also serve as advocates for children. On February 12, a group of pediatricians, medical students and residents traveled to Concord, NH, for the Boyle Community Pediatric Program’s Advocacy Day. The goal of the day was to help both current and future providers learn how to advocate for children’s health. The group was able to meet with New Hampshire legislators and discuss topics such as paid family leave and the impact of marijuana advertising on kids.
Under the direction of Dr. Steven Chapman, the Boyle Community Pediatrics Program champions patient- and family-centered care at the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock (CHaD). The program teaches medical students and residents to use a holistic approach to pediatric care, understanding that a patient's home environment and community resources are as important as treating the medical condition itself.
