On Wednesday, May 15, the Injury Prevention Center at Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock (CHaD), with the support of the New Hampshire Office of Highway Safety, will host the 2019 Seatbelt Challenge. In this gameshow-style competition, high school students will be tested on their knowledge of vehicle and road safety covering such topics as seat belts, distracted driving, impairment and New Hampshire driving laws.
“In the past, the Seatbelt Challenge had been more of a physical challenge, but this year, it is going to be a whole new interactive educational experience,” says Chelsie Mostone, Highway Safety Specialist, Injury Prevention Center at CHaD.
ThinkFast Interactive® specializes in awareness programs and will provide audience response technologies for a fun, engaging experience. Teams of up to seven students will compete for a trophy to host at their school until next year’s challenge.
The Injury Prevention Center invited schools from across New Hampshire to send student teams, and there is still time to register participants for the event held at Southern New Hampshire University’s Fieldhouse in Manchester. The last day for schools to register is Monday, May 6.
On the day of the event, check-in opens at 9 am, the challenge begins at 9:30 am, and closes with lunch at 11 am. For questions regarding the event, contact Chelsie.L.Mostone@hitchcock.org.
