Fisher Cats, CHaD kick off holiday season with baseball dinner

In what’s become a holiday tradition, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats hosted the Granite State Baseball Dinner in Manchester on Saturday, November 18.  And once again, the celebration of America’s pastime benefited Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock.

Over $100,000 was raised at the dinner, with proceeds supporting CHaD as well as the Fisher Cats Foundation and the dinner’s third beneficiary, the Ted Williams Foundation.

The guest list was highlighted by a mini-reunion of the 1975 World Series between the Boston Red Sox and Cincinnati Reds.  Hall of Famer Tony Perez was joined by Red Sox greats Bernie Carbo, Rico Petrocelli, and Luis Tiant.  Additional Fenway favorites in attendance included Oil Can Boyd, Rich Gedman, and Bob Stanley.  Of course, one of CHaD’s biggest supporters secured his usual spot at the head table, St. Louis Cardinals great and two-time World Series champion Chris Carpenter.

Besides the dynamic guests, the star of the evening was CHaD patient Meghan Richardson, who told her (life-long) CHaD story.  Joined by her mom, Sue, Meghan was her typically inspirational self, bringing the crowd to its feet with her life’s journey.

CHaD has been a long-time beneficiary of the event since the Fisher Cats became involved in 2007.  During that time the dinner has donated a cumulative $1.67 million to the three benefiting charities.
