The CHaD Injury Prevention program has wrapped up its first year of the Kohl’s Safe and Active Community Program and the feedback from our community partners has been positive. This new two-year initiative, funded through a grant from Kohl’s Cares, provides support to local initiatives promoting safe and healthy activity for children and their families throughout New Hampshire. In 2018, the program collaborated with 53 community organizations around the state, including police and fire departments; schools; hospitals; Kiwanis groups and recreation departments. As part of the program over 2,200 multi-sport helmets, over 1,200 reflective pedestrian vest, and 10,000 reflective tags were distributed to help keep kids safe. Additionally, the Safe and Active Community Program provided funding for a bike and pedestrian safety awareness campaign in May.
Applications from community organizations for the program will be due in early 2019. If you would like more information, please contact Jim Esdon at James.E.Esdon@hitchcock.org.
