Safe and Active Life Jacket Program

orange life jacket on dock

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, drowning is the leading cause of injury death to children under the age of four in the United States. The Injury Prevention Center, in partnership with CHaD, and Kohl’s Cares, invites you to join us in helping ensure youth in your community have access to life jackets when boating or swimming in New Hampshire waterways.

Providing life jackets is new to our Safe and Active grant program. We have various sized life jackets available for free for a limited time, to give to organizations who are able to support drowning prevention in their communities. We just ask that you please do the following:

  • Tell us how you plan to distribute the life jackets. Examples of distribution could be a lifejacket loaner program such as the one found here, or another activity that could help save lives.
  • Send us a report (we will provide the template) at the end of September detailing what you did, how well it worked and how many youth it impacted.
