During your child's appointments, he or she can receive a full medical examination, and you can consult with specialists on our team to determine the best treatment for your child's condition. Some of the tests we may perform include genetic (blood) tests and skin biopsies.
Our team can help determine whether your child would benefit from medication, a modified diet, or other treatments. Sometimes, surgery is the best answer.
Our surgical services include removal of a wide range of growths, such as acquired and congenital pigmented nevi, cysts and sebaceous nevi. We pay special attention to your child's age and provide appropriate support for that age level.
We work in tandem with the Child Life Program to ensure that your child has the support he or she needs, and that all staff has special training in caring for children with dermatology issues. If your child requires anesthesia, we will work closely with the CHaD PainFree Program.
We also offer the following programs and clinics.
- General pediatric dermatology clinics: CHaD offers several general pediatric dermatology clinics per week. We diagnose, and may be able to treat, conditions such as:
- Atopic dermatitis
- Pigmented lesions
- Vascular birthmarks
- Genodermatoses clinics: These clinics offer more specialized care for children with inherited skin disease. The monthly genodermatoses clinic is conducted in collaboration with genetics specialists. Your child will be asked for a detailed medical history, and will receive a physical examination, testing and counseling with a certified genetics counselor.
