The Pediatric Hematology and Oncology team at Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock (CHaD) / Norris Cotton Cancer Center provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary care and support for children diagnosed with cancer and blood disorders and their families.
Families are given complete, accurate information about their child's diagnosis and treatment options. Parents are an important part of the medical team and are involved in each step of the process.
We recognize that a cancer diagnosis does not happen to the child alone, but rather impacts the whole family. We strive to provide effective and useful support to each member of the family throughout the duration of treatment and beyond.
Children followed by the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology team are seen by a core team of three oncologists, six members of the nursing staff, a dietician, a dedicated Child Life Specialist, and a social worker. The team is supported by a range of pediatric specialists from CHaD and DHMC in many areas including radiology, pathology, surgery, neurosurgery, neurology, urology, and radiation-oncology.
Surgery and inpatient hospital admissions are primarily provided at DHMC in Lebanon, NH. Chemotherapy is administered at both Norris Cotton Cancer Center at DHMC and at Norris Cotton Cancer Center Manchester in Manchester, NH. Whenever possible, care is provided in the community through the support of visiting nurses and pediatricians.
